Opening Ceremony of GEP 2010 in China

The opening ceremony of GEP 2010 in China was held on Xixi Campus on January 8th, 2011. The attendants included Prof. Wu Xiaobo, the executive vice dean of Management School, Prof. Wei Longbao, Prof. Chen Ling and Prof. Ruan Junhua, the vice deans of Management School, delegations from Babson College and EM-Lyon Business School, and 59 students from 18 countries. The opening ceremony was hosted by Prof. Zhang Gang, the vice dean of Management School.

On the ceremony, Dean Wu addressed a speech in the name of Management School in order to welcome the GEP students to China. Dean Wu mentioned “DPRS”, dream, passion, responsibility and smile, which was proposed by him before the Chinese GEP candidates left for France. At the same time, he added one more letter “C”, challenge, to express his expectation of self-challenging on GEP students.

The representatives from EM-LYON and Babson College announced that they are always available to GEP students’ learning and living. They wished that the class could utilize this precious study opportunity in China. Then, Mr. Gu Lifeng, the representative of Chinese GEP candidates, briefly reviewed the time spent in France and looked forward to the next three months in China. He indicated that all of the Chinese students would try their best to help their foreign classmates.

The next part was the meeting with the professors hosted by Prof. Zhang Gang. Every professor introduced own background and course syllabus to help the students arrange their schedule more reasonable.

In the last part foreign GEP candidates talked about their first image of China, such as delicious food, beautiful sights and hospitable Chinese people. After the ceremony, the professors and students from EM-LYON, Zhejiang University and Babson College took a group photo to mark the occasion.
