Project Name: Tea Extractions marketing in China

The company: Zhejiang Tata Tea Extraction Co. Ltd. (ZTTECL) is a Joint Venture between Tata Global Beverages Limited (TGB) - 70% and Zhejiang Tea Group Company Limited (ZTG) – 30%.. The JV has  manufacturing capabilities for Green Instant Tea, Tea Polyphenols, Tea Concentrates, EGCG, and other value added tea products

 

TGB is the second largest branded tea player in the world- and owns brands like Tetley,  and Tata Tea. It is a part of the Tata Group, a 100 Bn USD global conglomerate, which spans a wide range of industries across automobiles, steel, IT, Tea, salt, etc and is owner of brands like Jaguar, Land Rover, Corus Steel,

 

ZTG is a China based company having more than 50 years history, it has become China's leading tea and tea products manufacturer, and is China’s largest Green Tea Exporter. The Group inherited the essence of tea culture in China, by the combination of traditional tea manufacturing process and modern production techniques to develop tea products to meet the needs of modern life.

The group has 20 subsidiaries and 7 Sino-Foreign Joint Ventures, in various business verticals ranging from Tea, Tea Machinery, Garments, Textiles to Hard wares.

 

Project Scope/ Deliverables:

Demand mapping:

 

a) Identify key market segments for the extractions business for the specified geography / geographies

b) Identify key customers – prioritise them based on their potential

 

Supply mapping:

 

a)  Identify key competitors- prioritise them based on their potential

 b) Identify size of the extractions business opportunity across segments

 

Formulate a B to B marketing / sales strategy for  ZTTECL  to tap the key market segments

 

Methodology:

-          Understanding of the extractions  product range of the Company and its potential usages

-          Gathering of information – available through published data / Internet / establishing direct contact

-          Understanding the B to B marketing & sales strategy of ” key”  competitors , their product range, pricing strategy, size.

Duration:

-          1- 2 months- to finalise post consultation with the Institute

Project team

-          MBA student completing first year

-          Project mentor from  ZTTECL

-          Project guide from Institute (to be determined post contact with Institute)
