Supply Chain Solution System from CISCO

December 12, 2015 Hangzhou - Invited by GMSCM program of Zhejiang University, Mr. GAO Yuan, global IT manager of CISCO gave a splendid lecture about the supply chain solution in high-tech manufacturing company in Zijingang campus.


Mr. GAO Yuan has very strong professional background in IT and supply chain field and also has unique views about the IT solution in manufacturing companies, who used to work in the IT and supply chain departments in HUAWEI and ZTE for quite long time and also worked in Accenture as IT consults before joining CISCO in 2010. Mr. GAO now is the global IT manager, supporting and managing team members from America, India, China, and etc.

The lecture consists of four main parts including enterprise APP architecture, CISCO customer value chain, solution in TMS (transportation management system) and the benefits. Mr. GAO spent most of the time explaining the TMS solution system and its advantages after brief but clear introduction about business & CISCO background.

Established in 1984, with headquarters in San Francisco, CISCO offers routers, switchboards, network storage, video processing and cloud computing service to global market. Based on global, complex and diverse supply chain, integrated IT solutions like SAP, ERP, CRM and TMS contribute great technical supports to the efficient and accurate operation of the whole system, and also made CISCO’s supply chain into Top 10 worldwide in recent years. Among the IT systems, Mr. GAO emphasized TMS which could design optimized production and transportation route according to the location, cost and time requests upon receiving the order. TMS got 6 operators in total for global market running and saved about 15-18 millions cost per year with its powerful functions.




The audience students are obviously interested in this lecture topic and put lots of questions about IT systems designing and discussed with Mr. GAO on how to optimize the system to avoid expected accidents and reduce the risk & costs. The heated discussion with Mr. GAO also drew a perfect ending to this rewarding evening.
