October 16, 2015 Hangzhou - Students from GMSCM program visited Wahaha Corporation’s Xiasha industry facilities.

Wahaha is a leading company in beverage industry. In the meantime, Wahaha has been diversifying its business sectors and entered into industries including milk powder, machinery, printing, retail, as well as dairy farming.

As first stop, GMSCM students took a tour in Wahaha exhibition room and learned the history of Wahaha Corporation and its renowned founder Zong Qinghou.

Established in 1987, the founder of Wahaha, Mr. Zong, started his hard venture in a school-run business in Shangcheng district, with 3 employees and 140,000 RMB in loan. Today, Wahaha has grown into a large food and beverage corporation with 70 production bases and 170 subsidiaries in 29 different provinces. Wahaha also has 30,000 employees and 40 billion RMB in fixed assets.

Then in conference room, students were given a PPT introduction about Wahaha Corporation‘s organizational structure and its supply chain .

Wahaha has been running a relatively flat management structure, splitting its divisions into five centers-Operation Center, R&D center, Management center, Service center and Regional center.

Moreover, beverage industry has a quite short lead time which enables Wahaha to allocate its capacity nationwide rapidly and keep literally zero stock in warehouse.

Later, GMSCM students were taken to visit workshop for producing Wahaha’ lactobacillus beverage and its engineering subsidiary.

Unlike other beverage companies, Wahaha’s annual volume grants them a distinctive privilege in terms of cost reduction. Wahaha has two plants producing molds for blowing and injection process, as well as industrial robots. The two plants are running at full capacity and reached 800,000,000 RMB’s revenue in previous year.

Before leaving, students from GMSCM 13 ,14 and 15 grade, took a phote at frontgate of Wahaha.
