Business Development Executive

SunEdison is a major subsidiary of MEMC, an S&P 500 corporation. 

SunEdison is one of the world’s leading solar project developers, with more than 350 solar electric power plants under constructed and under management. SunEdison finances, installs, and operates distributed power plants using proven photovoltaic technologies, delivering fully managed, and predictably priced solar energy services for its commercial, government and utility customers. 

In 2009, SunEdison delivered more kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy than any other solar services provider in North America.  In addition, SunEdison manages some of the largest solar projects in the world including ‘First Light Ontario’ – Canada’s first fully active solar PV energy park, Europe’s largest PV solar power plant near Rovigo – Italy, and many more in countries such as Germany, Spain, and India.

Exciting things are also happening in China, arguably the most promising up and coming solar PV market in the world. Here, SunEdison has developed its pipelines and is actively pursuing PV projects preparing to be a major player in the Chinese solar PV market.  As a result, SunEdison is looking to recruit top talents to help contribute in this endeavor.

As one of the fastest growing solar companies in the world, SunEdison excels not only in project engineering but also in innovative project financing.  For example, SunEdison was the first to introduce solar Power Purchasing Agreements (PPA) which has now become the primary model used in the North American PV solar development market today.  Furthermore, in May 2010, SunEdison secured one of the largest solar project acquisition funds with First Reserve Corporation to the tune of $1.5 billion.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Business Development Executive will:

• Build channel partnerships in the solar PV market to bring qualified project leads and opportunities. Potential clients and partners include utilities, grid companies, engineering and construction firms, solar component providers, and energy efficiency companies across the commercial, industrial, and public sectors of China
• Build relationships in solar PV market, articulate value propositions, craft and negotiate contracts
• Build, develop, and maintain financial models that evaluate project economics in China which provide a foundation for project financing opportunities
• Assist in market research, policy research, and marketing strategy development
• Interact and leverage resources within SunEdison and MEMC
• Perform any other assigned duties
• Report directly to the Business Development Director

This position requires a minimum of 40% travel within China and with occasional trips to the United States for meetings with the North American team

REQUIREMENTS

• Undergraduate degree from a top Chinese university, preferably in engineering; WITH an MBA or business related master’s degree or above from a top business school
• Previous work experience in a related area is a plus (such as energy, renewable, electrical engineering, construction, business development, etc.)
• Must be a self-starter who can thrive in entrepreneurial settings, someone who understands the value of results-driven performance and execution
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
• Must be fluent in English
• Strong presentation skills
• Ability to work independently with solid time-management and organizational skills
• Ability to quickly prioritize and respond to client demands
• Ability to take ownership of projects and work collaboratively with the broader SunEdison team to complete projects
• Must be a strong problem-solver, strategic thinker, with strong analytical capabilities
• Must be able to think creatively to come up with new effective ways to articulate our value to clients and differentiate SunEdison against competitors

REMUNERATION

SunEdison offers a competitive base salary (>RMB10,000/month, depending on qualifications) and has a performance based bonus program.  SunEdison also offers a comprehensive benefits package.
